When the ground trembles, the hunt has already begun.
This massive burrowing insect erupts from beneath with acid and crushing mandibles. Chitinous brown-yellow carapace covered in thorn-like spines, six powerful legs, enormous pincers drip with digestive acid as it breaks through earth to seize prey.
About the Thornback Ankheg
Sculpted bursting from the ground at 45 degrees with the rear half fused to the earth mound, this ankheg is dramatic but structurally solid. The tan-brown chitin with darker segments gives clear painting lines, the pale mandible tips and roots provide contrast, and the erupting pose makes it a centerpiece model.
